Go through, go through the gates; prepare ye the way of the people!
Cast up, cast up the highway; gather out the stones;
lift up a standard for the People. (Is. 62:10).

 The Youth Council of the Spiritual Christian Molokan (SCM) Center of Russia, in Kochubeevskoe village [Stavropol'skii krai], met from 17 to 19 March, 2000, to formulate a plan which would reinforce the faith of the Spiritual Christian Molokans. It was decided to distribute an Appeal to all the churches and senior presbyters, to all the active Molokans, and to those, who, for some reason, left the Molokan Church. We call upon all to participate in strengthening our churches.

THE APPEAL

The Youth Council appeals: Strengthen our churches, re-establish churches that terminated their existence, everyone of us must contribute his best in helping the church or an individual. As a point of departure, The Council decreed:
  1. Increase the missionary works: a. Create small groups able to sing psalms and preach the Word of the Lord. Purchase of a minivan is essential for this project; b. Consistent with availability of funds, sleets highly capable youth -- boys and girls-- terminate their present employment and appoint them as paid full-time Center workers.

  2. It is necessary to conduct 2 or 3 seminars annually with the missionary groups, and the volunteers willing to learn the fundamental of the SCM, in order to avoid a split in our churches. Our elders must be the active participants and mentors.

  3. Create a unified choir. How can this be done? Initially, disseminate audiocassettes and later videocassettes with he correct (edited) psalms. This would insure a standard choral performance and avoid problems when singing at the meetings with other groups. Once the first and second tasks, above, have been accomplished, we will be ready to create a Missionary Group, which will be working with all the churches. Active performance of this Group, with a prayer, and the fasting, and with the blessing of our Lord, will result in a revival of the SCM, and will awaken many hearts towards cognition and blessing of the Lord.

  4. We ask Presbyters of the SCM churches to increase spiritual work with the youth in their respective area of the church, maintain close liaison with the Youth Council and with the Senior Presviter of the SCM Center in Kochubeevskoe. In the event of a need for a Missionary Group for any reason, in any church, contact the Youth Council of the Senior Presbyter in order to coordinate the purpose and the duration of the visit.

  5. It is necessary to obtain copies of the SIMFONIIA [songbook] for each Missionary Group.

  6. A message from the Youth Council to the Presbyters for the foreign churches: It is a sad day for us to hear that the Russian youth, having left for foreign countries, are losing their native language. We propose to open a study center for conversational Russian at the SCM Center. In order to facilitate visitors rapid assimilation of the subject, it will necessary to billet [house] them together. To accomplish their joint billeting, it is necessary: to complete the construction of the bathing facility, to purchase mattresses, and the linen.

  7. The state of financial affairs of the SCM Center precludes accomplishment of all the proposed recommendations and tasks. We appeal to all the SCM churches, as well as to the rich and the poor, who answer to the Russian name, who is of the Spiritual Molokan faith. We ask you to join in the work of the youth of our faith. For the Lord said: "But this I say, He which soweth sparingly, shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. (2Cor. 9:6-7).

  8. the year 2005 will be the 200th anniversary of the signing of a decree by the Emperor Alexander I granting freedom of religion to the Molokan faith. Organize universal SCM conference.

  9. This year, the 2000th, our youth will conduct Conference III in two locations. For youths age 10 to 15 years, July 15-23 in Kochubeevskoe. Youths 15 years old and up, July 29 to August 5 in the Inozemtsevo village, Stavropol'skii krai.
