1987 Photos by Anne (Tolmasoff) Strubar and daughter Rose, from Oregon.
With memories of her grandfather's descriptions of their family's life and history in Kars oblast, Up the hill, west of Kars city, in the former village of Chalkavur (now joined with Chakmak village), Anne was able to find his house, great-grandfather's orchard (surrounded by a stone wall he built), and many sites she recognized from his stories. These photos are form their scrapbook of that trip and from Rose's return trip in 1989. Rose was working in Turkey with a religious organization.
